Cavapoochon vs. Cavapoo: What’s the Difference, and Which is Right for You? I get this question all the time. We have bred both breeds and here is what we have found.

If you’re dreaming of a cuddly, fluffy, low-shedding companion, chances are you’ve come across two adorable breeds: the Cavapoo and the Cavapoochon. Both are popular designer dogs known for their sweet personalities and allergy-friendly coats—but what exactly sets them apart?

Let’s break it down so you can find the perfect match for your home and lifestyle.

What Is a Cavapoo?

The Cavapoo is a cross between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Poodle (usually a toy or miniature).

What to Expect with a Cavapoo:

  • Size: 12–25 lbs, depending on the size of the Poodle parent

  • Coat: Wavy or curly; typically low-shedding

  • Personality: Loving, loyal, playful, and intelligent

  • Energy Level: Moderate; enjoys walks and interactive play

  • Lifespan: 12–15 years

What Is a Cavapoochon?

The Cavapoochon adds a third breed to the mix:

  • Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

  • Poodle

  • Bichon Frise

This triple cross brings in some unique features that many families love.

What to Expect with a Cavapoochon:

  • Size: 10–20 lbs, typically smaller and more compact

  • Coat: Fluffy, soft, and more consistently hypoallergenic thanks to the Bichon

  • Personality: Incredibly gentle, cheerful, and affectionate

  • Energy Level: Slightly lower than a Cavapoo; more laid-back (this is honestly one of the biggest differences that we have found.)

  • Lifespan: 13–17 years
