About Cavapoochons
The Cavapoochon:
The Cavapoochon, is a hybrid between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bichon Frise and the Toy Poodle. It boasts the Poodle’s and Bichon’s signature non-shedding coat along with the temperament of the Spaniel. It is great for people with allergies. Like other ‘designer breeds’, the Cavapoochon has seen a recent surge in popularity.
Size:
The Cavapoochon weighs anywhere between 5-10 lbs. Cavapoochons can vary in appearance depending on the genetic influence of the parents. Cavapoochon’s are known as “the puppy that never ages” as their puppy looks continue into adult years.
Coat:
The Cavapoochon is known for its soft, Poodle-like coat, though a few have the Bichon's longer, silkier, wavy coat. The Cavapoochon can be a wide variety of colors including gold, apricot, white, or tuxedo colored.
Character:
The Cavapoochon is friendly and energetic, thriving on human companionship. It is intelligent and can be somewhat active. Cavapoochon’s tend to follow their owner from room to room, eager to play or just cuddle up. They may get into mischief or snoop around where you want to keep them out.
Temperament:
Cavapoochon’s make great companions for anyone, from small children to an older adults They are friendly to everyone, including strangers, dogs, and other pets. Young children should be supervised around the Cavapoochon to ensure they treat it with respect.
Care:
The Cavapoochon requires weekly brushing as its hair tends to knot frequently, if hair is kept long. Cavapoochon’s require regular grooming to keep their nails trimmed. The Cavapoochon has a lifespan of 8-12 years, though some can live longer.
Training:
The Cavapoochon is very intelligent and easily trained. A gentle and well varied approach is recommended. Most Cavapoochons can learn a wide variety of tricks and are eager to please their owner. The Cavapoochon can be house trained fairly quickly.
Activity:
The Cavapoochon requires daily exercise. Most of its needs can be met by indoor play, but it also enjoys walks, games, fetch, and outdoor exercise or a visit to the dog park. The Cavapoochon is well suited to apartment life.
